June 2012 Update

Dear Friends and Family,                                                                   June 29, 2012

P- Personal Update:

Hosting a baby shower was a fun event to plan for our youth leader’s wife, Valeria.  The youth group girls helped with the decorations and then had a blast participating in the games!  I feel like it was a great connect with several of the girls and a good way to encourage Valeria.  This month Brenna, from Iowa visited for three weeks and helped out with a lot of projects at the school.  Making airport trips (about a half hour to an hour or more depending on traffic) is also a weekly experience!

E- Exciting Ministries:

First Grade 2012:  Every day is definitely an adventure teaching this group of students, they definitely keep me on my toes with all of their energy.  One of my favorite things about teaching this group is when they start singing our Bible verse songs while they are working.

Secondary Bible Study:  As I lead this study, God is using it as a blessing in my own spiritual life.  The girls already know each other, but they are still getting to know me.  I have been encouraged with the growth that I have seen this month how more of a natural flow that there is during our time together.

Perspective Teachers:  Kay Black is a lot of fun to work with at school each day.  God is using her to show me how much I actually have grown these past 2 years as a teacher as I offer encouragement and share with her my humble beginnings as a teacher.  Kay is looking into being a missionary teacher once she graduates from Baptist Bible College.

Youth Group:  What a PACKED month of activities in youth group!  “The Battle of the Ages” was a neat event where the teens invited their parents to a special night of competitions.

R- Reality- Prayer Requests:

Spanish: Please continue to pray for my ability to communicate and the time to study.  I have seen a lot of progress, but the truth is that I still have a long way to go!

Discipleship: I am supposed to start discipleship with one of the girls in my group, Stephanie, who does not attend our church.  So far every time I have tried to connect with her it has fallen though.  Please pray that I would be able to invest in her life and encourage her as she is in her first semester at a secular college.

Music:  Due to special circumstances outside of my control I now find myself playing piano every Sunday and also leading music for youth group!  Playing piano weekly is an added commitment and leading music in Spanish is extremely overwhelming with not only the language, but musically as well.  Please pray for diligence and ongoing humility as God is using this to stretch me.

U- Ultimately God – How God is working in my life:

One thing I have learned while studying Job is that God is ENOUGH.  In the end of the book God gave Job the opportunity to defend himself , but Job was silent because he realized who God was, how big He is, and that He always had a plan.  Even though things are challenging right now, God loves me and wants what is best for me, just like Job.  I am learning to trust God when my questions are not answered and life is difficult.  I need to be giving God the opportunity to reveal His divine purpose in my life in His timing.  Easier said than done… I am very much in process with this!

Willing for Christ,

Kari
